frequently asked questions

Does Helen Robins claim directly from Medical Aids on behalf of patients?

The practice is based on an upfront payment system where all patients are required to settle their outstanding accounts directly with the podiatrist. You will receive a detailed invoice after your consultation, including all required ICD10 codes, which you can claim back on with your relevant Medical Aid service provider. We only claim directly from Medical Aids in cases where the patient is seen in hospital.

Can I pay with Card or Cash at the practice?

We have credit/debit card facilities available at the practice and this is the preferred method of payment. We do however accept cash payments as well.

Can I claim back from my Medical Aid for a consultation with Helen Robins?

Helen provides detailed statements to patients which they can claim back on with their relevant Medical Aid service provider. Whether your Medical Aid will reimburse you for the visit is entirely dependent on your specific Medical Aid Plan. It is advisable to consult directly with your Medical Aid to confirm that you are covered for visits to a Podiatrist.

Will I be treated immediately when visiting Helen Robins?

Helen will assess your feet during the consultation and will treat any prevalent conditions on the initial visit. She will inform you should your foot condition require longer treatment plans.

How long can I expect an appointment to take?

Your initial consultation will take approximately 45min, thereafter you can expect any follow-up consultations to last up to 30min. An exception to this is in the case of Orthotic Therapy and the Nail Wedge Resection, where appointments can last up to 1 hour.
